December 4, 2024 - Wednesday - I was back in Chino, CA today to see "The Barn." Judy is up north visiting her sister. The Chino Valley Historical Society has a museum located in the old schoolhouse and it has added a barn to the facility. The main building is the community’s first schoolhouse, erected in 1888. At 722 square feet, the barn is more the size of an apartment than a traditional barn, but it’s got farm implements and related items donated over the years by farm families. We had both visited the Old Schoolhouse Museum back in 2022. Before seeing the barn, I had assumed that most of the things we saw back in 2022 were now spread out over two buildings.
I assume everyone knows what a still looks like.
The stone on a rope is called a buggy tether. It anchored the horse and buggy if no hitching post was nearby.
A boot jack and a cow bell.
This is a milking stool, you fastened it to your butt and you could sit while milking.
After the Barn I took a second look at the schoolhouse museum.
I love this double roll top desk.
It wasn't repetitive from our first visit, they have many new artifacts displayed.
After the barn, I headed over to Cannataro's for lunch.
I had their "Baked Eggplant Parmesan" and it is delicious. The portion was big so I took home tomorrow's lunch with me. There wasn't anything left of the minestrone soup or garlic bread that came with it.
