December 28, 2023 - Thursday - Today we were in Fontana, CA to see the Mary Vagle Nature Center.  The Center is a natural refuge in the midst of an urban landscape.  There are several nature trails here including one that winds around the pond.  There are also native gardens and the Nature Center Museum that opens at noon.

The pond is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting in the sun and watching the antics of all the birds.

The bird below is an American coot, a water bird that looks like a duck, but isn't one.  It is commonly called a mud hen.  In taking flight they must patter across the water, flapping their wings furiously, before becoming airborne.

The museum is interesting and it has a lot of live reptiles and exotic insects.  There are many activities available for children.

Before the Nature Center, we stopped for lunch at our Riverside favorite, Tio's Tacos.

Judy had cheese enchiladas with mole sauce, rice and beans.

I had their shrimp with garlic sauce, rice and beans.
