August 14, 2024 - Wednesday - Today we were in Fullerton, CA to visit the Muckenthaler Cultural Center and their latest exhibit called "Unsavory."  Throughout the history of art, food has been depicted via imagery of culinary delights, as well as social gatherings, sumptuous feasts, and mouthwatering still life representations. In contrast, "Unsavory" unveils the many destructive aspects; both to humans and the environment, brought about by the production and/or ingestion of food and beverage.  However, it's all in good fun and Judy and I both laughed our way through it.

Unfortunately there wasn't a program guide so I don't have the names of the artists or the titles of their art.  The one below is "Flying Tomato."

I think this is "Cut the Mustard."

This one is called "Don't Smack the Bottle."

This artist's series was about the negative effects of sugar and sugar substitutes.

I believe this one is called "48 Grams," as in 48 grams of fat.

The fries are called "11 Grams."

The work below is a play on Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights," except it's all about food.

It really is a very entertaining exhibit.  It got a lot of smiles from us.

After the museum it was time for some pizza at our favorite, Fuoco Pizzeria Napoletana.

Our first pizza was the "Prosciutto and Figs" special.  It's mozzarella, prosciutto crudo, fresh figs, toasted walnuts, honey and a balsamic reduction.

The second pizza is called "Vespa."  It's mozzarella, cup and char pepperoni, roasted garlic, goat cheese and spicy honey.  It has no tomato sauce.

We ate half of each pizza and we'll enjoy the other two halves for lunch tomorrow.
