August 5, 2026 - Wednesday - Today we decided to take in a local landmark that we haven't seen since we moved here 17 years ago. One of the most famous landmarks in the Inland Empire is the Arrowhead. It's located in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains directly above the City of San Bernardino, however, you have to be in a suitable viewing spot to see it. This important landmark has for centuries been a symbol of the San Bernardino Valley to the Native Americans and then to the pioneers and settlers that followed.
Modern businesses that have adopted the "Arrowhead" name include: Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water, Arrowhead Credit Union, Arrowhead Capital Corporation, Arrowhead Business Offices, Arrowhead Engineering, Arrowhead Orthopedics, Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Arrowhead Mechanical, Arrowhead Electric Company and many more.
There aren't any markers or monuments here, so the Arrowhead" is all you get.
Before seeing the Arrowhead, we had brunch at the Mitla Cafe, also in San Bernardino.
Judy had "Peggy's Special" with a crisp flour tortilla, melted cheese, pulled beef, sauce and beans.
I had their chili relleno with rice and beans.
It was a great brunch and a short adventure.
