August 7, 2024 - Wednesday - We didn't travel very far from home today since our adventure was in downtown Redlands.  Walking along the main business street in downtown, State Street, we've always noticed murals painted on buildings here and there.  I was surprised to learn that there are now over forty murals in all.  So we took advantage of a nice day to see quite a few, and we started at 8:00 AM to avoid the heat.  It's been over 100° now for a couple of weeks.

We started out on Sixth Street.

All of the public benches in town have been painted by local artists.

There used to be many murals in the alley next to the old Augie's Coffee Shop, but they're gone except for this one.

Then it was on to Fifth Street.

This isn't a mural, but it's the original sign painted on the building.

This is the very cute Redlands Visitors Center.

Just across Fifth Street from the Visitors Center is the Orange Street Alley.

We might have missed a few, but not many.  It is a delightful walk.

After our wandering it was time to eat, so we stopped by Don Orange Tacos, right on State Street.  It was our first time here and we were very curious about it.

We were happy to see the murals inside the restaurant.

We ordered two taco dishes to share and the first one was their "Carne Asada" which is steak, avocado, salsa, and pico de Gallo sauce.

The second one is called "El Gobernador" which is marinated shrimp, mozzarella cheese, blue corn tortillas, repollo, pico de gallo, chili poblano, and salsa gobernadora.

Both were delicious, but the shrimp one was very flavorful.  The side dishes were herb lime rice & pinto beans.  We'll be back.
