February 20, 2026 - Friday - Today we were in Palm Springs to see the latest exhibit at the Palm Springs Art Museum called "The Female Form: Tom Wesselmann & Mickalene Thomas from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation."  Tom Wesselmann created iconic images of the female form during the 1960s and 1970s, a time of cultural change and evolving attitudes around gender and sexuality.  Mickalene Thomas brings a powerful perspective to the tradition of the nude.  A queer Black woman, Thomas represents Black women with strength, beauty, and self-assurance.

***There are many pictures of nudity in the exhibit.***

Mickalene Thomas uses a variety of mixed media in her work.

She's recreated her family living room of the 1970's as part of the exhibit.

It's a very large exhibit that took us a while to see all of the pieces.

Before the museum we had brunch at a new place for us called Wilma & Frieda.

Judy had their "Benny's Bennie" with two eggs on a house-made English muffin, house-made Hollandaise and Duroc pork.

I had their "Chilaquiles with Soy-Rizo, Eggs and Queso Fresco" topped with avocado, crema and onion.

The food was great and we will return.

Leaving Palm Springs, we were treated to a view of snow capped mountains and windmills.
