September 17, 2025 - Wednesday - Today we were in Anaheim, CA to the see the latest exhibit at the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center called "Lowrider Culture in the United States." Lowriding is a quintessential Latino/Latina tradition started by Mexican American communities in the 1940s to assert their space and empower their lives. This unique car-making tradition is infused with Latino/Latina soul, entrepreneurship, and ingenuity. The exhibition is from the Smithsonian.
I believe this is a 1936 Chevrolet.
A Chicano moon walk, of course they brought the Lowrider.
This is a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline.
Chicanos delivering Christmas presents in their Lowrider.
This is a 1948 Plymouth with a swamp cooler on the side (no AC yet) and suicide doors in the back.
This is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible.
A Lowrider performing in front of the St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe, NM.
A quinceañera celebration with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
A tricked out Schwinn bicycle.
This is a very tricked out Taylor Tot stroller, plated in gold.
It's a great exhibit, we loved it. Before the museum, we had to try a new restaurant since our old favorite, Ruby's Diner, has closed. Say hello to the Original Pancake House.
Judy had their "Dutch Baby" which is a miniature German pancake served with lemon wedges and powdered sugar.
I went with their regular "German Pancake" which is oven-baked and served with lemon wedges and powdered sugar.
Everything was delicious, very moist and sweet. |
