November 13, 2021 - Saturday - Judy is up north visiting Beverly for a few days so I headed south to La Quinta to see the La Quinta Art Celebration.  The event promised 200 world-class artists hailing from 32 states and five countries exhibiting their original artworks.  Their styles ranged from classical to whimsical and span twelve media categories including: 2D mixed media, 3D mixed media, ceramics, digital art, drawing, pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, sculpture and wood.

There are many ducks making their home in the pond.

These wire sculptures were really interesting.

The artist told me that the forms were made with a combustible paper mache, wrapped in wire and then burnt to remove the form.

I got here at 9:00 AM and it took me 1.5 hours to see just about everything here.  By the time I left, it started getting crowded, so early is definitely better.

Since I was in the area, I stopped by The Cafe at Shields for lunch, after a little shopping at the Shields store.

Look at all those dates!

I started out with a "Stuffed Date" which is a plump Medjool date stuffed with jalapeño, bleu cheese and proscuitto, wrapped in bacon and finished off with a shallot demi-glace and a balsamic reduction.

Then it was onto their "Walleye Fish Tacos" which are three fish tacos lightly breaded on corn tortillas, lime, cabbage and chipotle aioli. It's served with rice and beans.

Everything today was fabulous and, hopefully, Judy can join me next year.
