August 13, 2025 - Wednesday - Today we drove to the coast to visit the Laguna Art Museum and see some of their latest exhibits. The most impressive one for us was Marnie Weber’s "The Doll House." The Doll House exemplifies Weber’s approach to art making that involves fairytale-inspired imagery. It took her two years to complete after she began in 2002. There's an actual doll house and collages she made starting with photographs of each individual room.
This is the back of the house.
Below are several pictures I took of the rooms.
Below are pictures of her collages. She pasted images onto her original photographs.
What an imagination! We were very impressed.
Before the museum we stopped for brunch at the Zinc Cafe in downtown Laguna Beach.
Judy had their "Margherita Pizza" with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, and garlic oil.
I had their "Black Bean Chili" with black beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, green onion, sour cream, and two garlic knots.
We left very satisfied and very full. |
