February 10, 2026 - Tuesday - Today we were in Los Angeles to visit the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA). Their latest exhibit is called "The Twelve Panels of Grace - Lights of Korea: Jinju Silk Lanterns." This exhibition offers a contemporary interpretation of Jinju silk lanterns, a heritage rooted in the center of Korean sericulture. Sericulture is the production of raw silk by raising silkworms.
To get an idea of what it's like to walk by these hundreds of lanterns, click here for a 30 second YouTube video.
Before the Korean Center, we had brunch at République. Built in 1928 by Charlie Chaplin, it is a Spanish influenced brick structure with gothic arches and colorful mosaic tiles.
Judy had their "Cast Iron Blueberry Pancake" with maple syrup. It was the biggest pancake that we ever saw!
I had their "BLT Benedict" with Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon, avocado, arugula, Calabrian chili hollandaise, and soft poached eggs.
The food here is fabulous!
