August 26, 2025 - Tuesday - Today we were in Pomona, CA to visit the Huntley Gallery on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona. Their current exhibit is called "Women’s Rights Are Human Rights" and it is an exhibition of women’s rights and advocacy posters. The phrase is a key slogan in the women’s rights movement and was also the title of an important speech delivered by Hillary Rodham Clinton at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. In her speech, Clinton stated: "If the term ‘women’s rights’ were to be interchangeable with the term ‘human rights,’ the world community would be a better place because human rights affect the women who raise the world’s children, care for the elderly, run companies, work in hospitals, and fight for better education and health care.”
This is a very powerful exhibit and it's worth the trip. We're still learning to navigate this huge campus, so good luck finding anything here.
Before the gallery, we had lunch at our Pomona favorite, VITA Italian Bar & Grill.
Judy had their "Chicken Parmesan" with spaghetti, marinara, mozzarella, parmesan crusted chicken, parmesan and ricotta. The portion was huge so the leftovers are tomorrow's lunch.
I had their "Linguini with Clams" with a wonderful butter and wine sauce.
It was a splendid day.
