September 22, 2021 - Wednesday - We were back in Orange, CA today to see the latest exhibits at the Hilbert Museum. While there are currently four new exhibits here, the main one that we wanted to see is called "Henrietta Berk: In Living Color," but first we looked at "Our Golden State" from the Hilbert Museum Collection.
The first three paintings below were done by Emil Kosa, Jr., one of our favorite painters.
Henrietta Berk was a painter in the San Francisco Bay Area whose work was part of the Bay Area Figurative Movement taking place in the mid-20th century. Her oil paintings were noted for their strong colors and shapes.
We found some of her paintings a little too abstract for us, but overall, it was wonderful.
Before the museum, we had brunch at the Filing Station Cafe.
Judy had their "Eggs Benedict," and the ham was delicious.
I had their "Eggs Florentine," with bacon, spinach and tomato. The Hollandaise sauce on both of our dishes was superb!
