August 19, 2026 - Wednesday - Today we were in Orange, CA to see several new exhibits at the Hilbert Museum of California Art. The first exhibit we saw is called "California Art Club’s 115th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition." The Annual Gold Medal Exhibition pays tribute to its pioneering artists who inspired California Impressionism – the first artistic movement defined as purely Californian.
The second exhibit is called "Wind from the West: California Iron Weathervanes." Long before mass-produced décor and catalog-ordered ornament became commonplace, homeowners and builders across California commissioned unique iron weathervanes to crown rooftops, towers, garages, stables and gardens.
Before the exhibits we stopped for brunch at Bruxie for some chicken and waffles.
Judy had their "Lemon Cream and Berries" waffle with homemade lemon cream, fresh raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. Delicious!
I had their signature chicken and waffle, also delicious.
