January 14, 2026 - Wednesday - Today we were in Orange, CA to see several new exhibits at the Hilbert Museum of California Art. The first one we saw is called "Side by Side: Selections from The Bank of America Collection and The Hilbert Collection." The Hilbert Museum helps Bank of America celebrate its 100th anniversary in Orange County with this collaborative showcase of works from the bank’s corporate art collection, which includes many of the same California artists collected and shown by the Hilbert Museum: Millard Sheets, Erle Loran, Paul Wonner, Robert Frame and more.
It's a beautiful exhibition.
The second exhibit we saw is called "Spirits of Earth and Fire: Pueblo Pottery from The Hilbert Collection." This exhibition showcases works collected over many years by Mark Hilbert. It highlights the artistry of top Indigenous potters from the pueblos of the Southwest.
Mr. Hilbert certainly collected quite a bit over the years.
Before the exhibits we stopped for brunch at the Zinc Cafe, also located in Orange.
Judy had their "French Toast" with brioche French toast, orange cinnamon butter, pecans, and maple syrup.
I chose the "Chilaquiles Bowl," which is two poached eggs, tortilla chips, salsa Verde, avocado, Anaheim chili, queso fresco, sour cream, romaine, and pico de gallo.
