December 30, 2025 - Tuesday - Today we just wanted to get out of the house, get some exercise and have a nice lunch. We ended up deciding to see the City of Highland Community Park, which is just a few miles from home. This 16.6-acre park offers a serene and picturesque ambiance, making it an ideal destination for walkers and hikers seeking a tranquil outdoor experience.
There is a lot of chain link fence separating the four baseball fields. All four are in the center of the park radiating from the central clubhouse.
Although we got a good hike in, there really isn't much to see in the park but, the Highland Sam J. Racadio Library is also in the complex.
The Discovery Zone has all of the children's books and all kinds of live animals.
It's a wonderful library.
After the park we had lunch at the Bear Springs Bistro & Lounge.
We started out with "Loaded Yucca Chips" which are crispy fried yucca chips topped with house made blue cheese dressing, pickled shallots, chopped bacon, blue cheese crumbles, fresh cracked pepper and micro basil.
Judy chose their "Crispy Calabrese Buffalo Flatbread" with grilled chicken tossed in buffalo sauce topped with mozzarella, carrots, blue cheese crumbles, bacon, and micro celery.
I had their "Stuffed Chicken Thighs" which is bacon wrapped chicken thighs stuffed with Irish cheddar cheese and broccolini, served with Yukon gold spinach mash and garlic cream sauce.
