January 24, 2026 - Saturday - Today we were in Covina, CA to see the Covina Heritage House.  The Covina Heritage House was built in 1908 for the Nash family, headed by one of Covina’s first pharmacists, William Wallace Nash.  Earlier, Mr. Nash had traveled across the entire continent, departing from Maine, before settling in Covina.  Over the years it passed through several hands before it was sold to the Community Medical Center in 1988.  It was slated for demolition but the Covina Valley Historical Society negotiated with the hospital board and received title to the house for the sum of one dollar provided it was removed from the property within one year.  It was moved from San Bernardino Road to its present location on Valencia Place.

This is the living room.

This is a small study off the living room.

And there's a picture of the 1933 Covina Float in the Rose Parade.

This is the dining room with matching built-ins.

This is the kitchen.

There are three bedrooms downstairs and three on the second story, which weren't open to the public.

Off the kitchen was a cute mudroom and a second set of stairs to the second story.

For lunch before the tour, we tried something totally different, the Mandalay Morning Star Restaurant.  The restaurant offers traditional Burmese cuisine, which we've never had, so we were cautiously optimistic that we'd like it.

Judy had their chicken curry dish with a side of coconut rice.

I had their river prawns with white rice.

The food was very good with a rich texture and earthy spices.
