February 26, 2026 - Thursday - We were in Claremont, CA today to see two exhibits currently open to the public. The first stop was at the Claremont Heritage facility, their exhibit is called "John Edward Svenson: Public Art + Design Exhibition."
Most of pieces on display are of models for the very large outdoor public art.
Our second stop was to see the latest exhibit at the Claremont Lewis Museum of Art called "She Opens the Door: Women Artists and Writers Shape Language and Space." "She Opens the Door" features nine local artists whose artworks question what “women’s work” might be, often drawing from materials and techniques traditionally considered “craft” to offer sharp cultural critiques and new visual languages.
We liked the Svenson exhibit a lot, but the second one didn't do too much for us. Before the museum we had lunch at Aruffo's Italian Cuisine.
Their home baked bread is a meal in itself.
We both had the same entrées, "Bucatini Carbonara" which has a classic custard cream sauce, pecorino, capocollo, cracked peppercorns, and fresh bucatini pasta.
Everything was delicious and we took half of the bread home, we were full.
