April 25, 2025 - Friday - We were in Claremont, CA today to see the latest exhibit at the Claremont Lewis Museum of Art called "Sound Formations: Artist, Musician, Instrument Maker." Sound Formations is a group exhibition showcasing beautifully handcrafted musical instruments that can also be appreciated as works of art. Claremont has a rich and unique history of musicians and instrument makers, and local artists continue to create instruments in their workshops and studios.
Charles Chase made two of the instruments displayed; a dulcimer from 1971 and a harp from 1984. They are both outstanding as artforms.
Before the museum we had lunch at Aruffo's Italian Cuisine.
Their home baked bread is a meal in itself.
We both had the same entrées, "Bucatini Carbonara" which has a classic custard cream sauce, pecorino, capocollo, cracked peppercorns, and fresh bucatini pasta.
It was a wonderful adventure. |
