July 29, 2026 - Wednesday - Today we were in Claremont, CA to see the latest exhibit at the Claremont Heritage called "End of the Trail: Route 66 Through California." The exhibit by photographer Michael Graves follows the final miles of the Mother Road on its 100th anniversary, tracing the route from Needles at the California border through desert towns, inland corridors, and Los Angeles neighborhoods to the Pacific at the Santa Monica Pier.

We've been to many of the places shown, including the Wigwam Motel below.
We've even been to this Mohawk Station in Oro Grande.
The photogragher, Michael Graves, spent a decade shooting these pictures, and it shows. Here we are at the end of the trail at the pier.

After the gallery, we had lunch at our Claremont favorite, Aruffo's Italian Cuisine.
Their home baked bread is a meal in itself.
We both had the same entrées, "Bucatini Carbonara" which has a classic custard cream sauce, pecorino, capocollo, cracked peppercorns, and fresh bucatini pasta.
