August 22, 2024 - Thursday - Today we were in Ontario, CA to see the latest exhibit at the Chaffey Community Museum of Art called "The Art of Healing." This exhibit presents a group of works from the San Antonio Hospital collection, created by professional artists active in the Pomona Valley. Art by Phil Dike forms a historically significant grouping within this collection. Important works by noted artists such as Sheets, Zornes, Batchelor, and Mahoney, among others, are displayed.
We were pleasantly surprised to see that most of collection are typical "California Scene/Impressionist" paintings done in the 1930s and 1940s, although some were done later, but in the same style.
We loved the one below called "Desert Promenade."
It's a very calming exhibit, as was its intention. The hospital is decorated with these paintings, and others, to calm their patients during their stay. Thus this exhibit is called "The Art of Healing."
Before the museum, we had lunch at Cannataro's Italian Restaurant in Chino, CA.
Judy had their Cannelloni Supremo. It's pasta stuffed with chicken, broccoli, spinach, ricotta and Romano cheeses, then topped with Alfredo sauce and mozzarella cheese. It's very cheesy and very filling.
I had my usual dish here, eggplant parmesan, which is terrific.
