September 11, 2026 - Friday - We were back in Los Angeles today to see the latest exhibit at the Chinese American Museum. "Seasons in Cosmos: Works by Diana Shuiu Wong" is the first exhibition to occupy the museum’s newly expanded gallery space. The program states "Spanning more than seven decades, Wong’s body of work is emblematic of her profound connection with nature and the subject of environmental uncertainty. Her art has been described as bold, esoteric, ephemeral, and fearless."
Although her paintings are abstract, which is not usually our favorite, they are very soft and soothing to the eye.
Four very large paintings define the four seasons.
Spring.
Summer.
Autumn.
Winter.
The one below is "Spring with Dragonfly."
This work in wood relates to the Chinese calendar.
Diana Shuiu Wong is alive and well and still active in her eighties.
Before the museum, we had lunch at Philippe's. Philippe’s has been located in Los Angeles, CA since 1908 and at its current location on Alameda since 1951.
We each had a French Dipped Roast Beef Sandwich (double dipped and wet), a lemonade, pickled egg for me and potato salad for Judy. We split a custard pudding!
