October 8, 2025 - Wednesday - Today we were in Santa Ana, CA to see the new exhibit at the Bowers Museum called "First Look: New Acquisitions at Bowers Museum." The exhibit celebrates the Museum’s ongoing commitment to collecting and sharing the world’s arts and cultures. Each object in this gallery tells a story of daily life, ritual, identity, or artistic innovation and many are on display for the first time.
The piece below is a Japanese war helmet.
"Laguna Hills" by William Wendt.
Titanium, rubies and diamonds.
Nepalese headdress.
This is a Moroccan water seller's bag.
In rural areas they do sell water, but in big cities, they pose for pictures for a fee. I took the picture below in Marrakech in 1974.
Before the museum, we had brunch at Norm's.
Judy had a delicious open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and cranberry.
I had a BLT with avocado and a side of onion rings.
